The Individual Learning Space

Where do you feel most comfortable learning?

These students were working cooperatively on a task. The students in this picture chose to do their work on the floor, while the other students chose to work at tables. When students have a choice of where they work, they feel as if they have some control over their learning. As 21st century learners, students need to be responsible for their learning.  Developing contemporary classrooms with flexible work areas allows students to have a choice. As individuals, we all have preferences for where and how we learn.

  1. I love how students are sometimes given the choice to where they would like to complete their work. They love doing stuff on the floor instead of the tables. So why I was on placement I tried to providing opportunities like this for students for examples: sitting next to a friend, or sitting on a table shaped like a jelly bean, sitting on the floor. Every time I gave them that choice most students would move out of their normal seats, and usually would sit or lay on the floor to do their work. Was fantastic.
