The curriculum is the ‘guiding light’ for teachers leading students through their educational journey. Embedded within are the 4C’s ………..critical and creative thinking, collaboration and communication.
Alongside the curriculum is pedagogy. Students are no longer filled with knowledge imparted by the teacher, but are provided with opportunities to form their own understandings and interpretations to develop their creative and critical thinking. Giving students the opportunity to guide their own learning through inquiry based experiences, involving communicating and collaborating with others, both within the school community and outside of it, can lead to the development of community of practices. These allow students opportunities to build relationships with others, sharing a commonality, enabling students to make sense of their world and make links that allow them to build on their prior knowledge.
